Some years ago, a friend of mine offered me some barn wood to build a family room onto my home. Once the addition was completed, I had quite a lot of barn wood left, so I thought I would try to build a little cabin to place on our fireplace mantle. I always loved the look of old cabins and how they aged. I built my first cabin and everyone loved it, even my wife, Mary Ann!

So after receiving new requests from some of our friends and family, we decided to build a few more together. Mary Ann started helping me with some of the construction, and on completion, everyone was telling me the I should offer them to other people to enjoy. So I designed three or four different cabin layouts then took them to a local craft show. I couldn’t believe how much people loved them! They started to become popular so we decided to attend more shows, and once my sons were old enough they began to help with the constructing and going to the shows.

Our family has now been building cabins for our customers to enjoy for over 25 years. We enjoy creating them together, paying attention to every small detail from genuine roofing and stone fireplace materials to decorations and accessories inside and out. We collect wood from old barns all over Michigan and surrounding states. Many are over a century old and close to the time frame the buildings are modeled to represent.

Thank you for taking the time to view our shop. We hope our cabins will bring to your home a sweet reminder of simpler times from the past!

All our best,
Woody, Mary Ann and the Byers Family
